Presentation

The University Master's Degree in Telematic Services & Network Engineering is an advanced training programme in communications networks and telematic service engineering. It is taught by expert doctors, who are professors from the Department of Telematic Systems Engineering, located in the Telecommunication Engineering School of UPM. They have a deep experience in teaching, research, development and innovation in the topics developed in the Master.

The aim of this Master is to offer a systemic education, not restricted to technological aspects of networks and telematic services, but including management, economical, normative, innovation, and specially research aspects. More specifically, its goals are that postgraduates become:

• competent to analyze the features, problems and constraints of telematic services and networks currently in use,

• well prepared to generate new knowledge and to develop new applications that improve existing networks and services,

• able to transmit the acquired knowledge to other people, both from the corporate sector and graduate or postgraduate students.

Ultimately, the goal of this Master is to offer an advanced and multidisciplinary training that helps students to initiate research tasks, and enable them to contribute to the scientific, technical, social and economic progress in the areas of telematic engineering where they carry out their work.

This Master constitutes the educational period of the PhD Programme in Telematic Systems Engineering. This programme has been imparted since 1989 under the responsibility of Department of Telematic Systems Engineering, and has a Quality Label since 2007 (MCD 2007-00131). In this programme, many engineers have been trained as researchers in information and communication technologies. They have also learned general engineering techniques, teamwork, activity planning, economic aspects of their work, regulatory issues,... all of which allows them to address the analysis of the current situation and the research of complex systems, with a systemic vision that encompasses all aspects.
